ASQ Level 1 Award in Coaching Golf

ASQ Level 1 Award in Coaching Golf

Become a licensed volunteer assistant coach, helping grow the game through your actions.

This qualification (known as the ASQ Award for Golf Coaching Assistants in Scotland) is available to individuals with an interest in golf coaching, who wish to work alongside other qualified coaches (for example a Head Professional) to provide basic technical coaching to beginner golfers.

Prior to attending a Level 1 course all candidates will be enrolled on to an online learning platform that includes all the resources required to complete the qualification. You will be given access to your learning materials approximately four weeks ahead of the two-day practical course. During this time candidates will be expected to read through the Home Study Workbook in preparation for the course.

The course is broken up into a learning programme on Day 1 focusing on offering you good coaching practice guidance, and Assessment on Day 2. This includes delivery of a 15-minute coaching session and a 45-minute multiple choice questionnaire.

Course Entry Requirements
Prior to registration for the ASQ Level 1 Award in Coaching Golf, the candidate must:

  • Have a commitment to attend all of the specified course dates
  • Be at least 16 years of age
  • Provide a copy of a valid (issued within the last 3 years) Criminal Records/Disclosure Check
  • Provide a copy of a valid (issued within the last 3 years) Child Protection certificate
  • Throughout the delivery and assessment of this qualification, candidates will be required to consistently demonstrate and apply the correct technical models for the full range of applicable shots. This means that although candidates will not be required to have any specific handicap, they will need to be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of playing ability.
  • Non-golfers are welcomed, although they must be able to explain and demonstrate golf skills to a satisfactory level during the course and practical assessment.

Once you have obtained the qualification, your first Level 1 Volunteer Golf Coach Licence will be issued as you will have already provided the required documentation.
