Coaching in Scotland

Coaching Golf in Scotland

The PGA are one of the partners in the Scottish Golf Learn to Golf National Junior Programme.

The Learn to Golf Programme offers children a structured programme which supports their early development as golfers and it is part of Scottish Golf’s National Junior Framework, ensuring opportunities for talented players to progress further based on their potential, commitment, and achievement.

Working alongside PGA Professional coaches, licensed Volunteer Assistant Coaches and Volunteer Coaches will deliver the early stages of the Learn to Golf Programme as they seek to introduce young people to the basics of golf and inspire them to become involved in golf for life.

Licensed volunteer coaches are SafeGolf accredited. A list of SafeGolf coaches can be found here.

PGA Professionals can adapt and deliver all stages of the Learn to Golf Programme as well as being part of the Roving Pro initiative. For more information on the coaching aspects of the Learn to Golf Programme click here

Individuals interested in becoming involved as a volunteer on the Learn to Golf Programme should find out whether their club is involved in the programme and then to speak their PGA Professional, Coaching Co-ordinator or Junior Convenor to find out more.

Scottish Golf affiliated clubs/facilities will receive support from the Scottish Golf Participation Team who can be contacted at juniorgolf@scottishgolf.org

In addition, PGA Professionals can also receive support from Allan Martin, the PGA Coach Education Manager (Scotland) at allan.martin@pga.org.uk or on 07827 945838.

The PGA provide and deliver coach education qualifications and courses.
