Jack Frances (Old Fold Manor) and amateur partner Andy Thornton will take a narrow lead into the second day of the Searles PGA Spring Classic.
The pair shone in the opening day's greensomes Stableford at Kings Lynn where they notched up 42 points.
That was good enough for a one-point lead over Crue Elliott (Sandy Lodge) and amateur Sean Herman.
All 54 'teams' head onto Hunstanton for the second round which will be played as a four-ball better-ball.
The high scoring nature of that format means a host of other duos will be in contention.
Sitting just two points off the top are Denver Golf Club's Jason and Alison Groat. Chris Cutchie (Colchester) and Phil Clarke are a further point back with 39.
