Taking golf to new heights

10/08/2018

PGA Professional Luke Willett is taking golf to new levels after completing an audacious challenge which saw him play three golf courses and climb three mountains in as many countries inside 35 hours.

The Hampstead Golf Club professional started the challenge at Fort William Golf Club in the Sottish Highlands where he played six holes in the shadow of Ben Nevis before trekking up the highest mountain in Scotland.

After carrying his clubs almost 4,500ft, Willett hit a shot from the summit before descending back to his car for a drive to Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. The 33-year-old reached the summit in time for sunrise and once again reached for his clubs to strike a ball into the distance.

“It was worth the early start for what was the most incredible sight I have ever seen, sunrise high up above the clouds. The moment I hit a shot from the summit has to be the most peaceful I have ever had swinging a club.”

Six holes at Seascale Golf Club followed before Willett embarked on the final leg of his challenge to Snowdon in North Wales. Knowing he was running out of time, Willett jogged the uneven trail to reach the top and ended his adventure with six holes in the sunset at Nefyn Golf Club.

“I recently freshened up my teaching approach to constantly push the boundaries of what is possible to uncover my clients and my own untapped potential. This is the biggest adventure of my life and the start of many more.”
